About ExHILP 2021

The forth Extremely High Intensity Laser Physics Conference (ExHILP 2021) - held as an online conference - is hosted by the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena and the Helmholtz Institut Jena and co-organized by the DFG research unit FOR 2783.  The conference combines theory, experiment and simulations of laser-matter and laser-vacuum interactions at the highest intensities. This year's version of  ExHILP is focusing on several core topics of Strong Field Quantum Electrodynamics and its application in neighboring fields. A focus will be on contemporary and future experiments with PW-class lasers addressing interactions in plasmas, the nonlinear response of the quantum vacuum, and laser interactions with ultra-relativistic particle and high energy photon beams. Previous conferences were hosted in Heidelberg (2015), Lisbon (2017), and Stanford (2019).

We plan to limit the program to 5 hours per day. To allow for attendance from different time zones, ranging from the West Coast of the USA to East Asia, we will implement an alternating time schedule. The two time windows for the conference will be:

  • 09:00 - 14:00 CET (00:00 - 05:00 PDT, 16:00 - 21:00 JST)
  • 15:00 - 20:00 CET (06:00 - 11:00 PDT, 22:00 - 03:00 JST)

Talks will be recorded and available for view via a non-public link, such that all participants can see all the talks.

If you want to attend the conference please register until August 15th, 2021.                                      UPDATE - Deadline extended: At the moment, we still have capacities for a limited number of additional attendees. Please register as soon as possible if you are interested in attending the conference.
