I will give a brief introduction to MHD turbulence, and so called "subgrid models", methods to include the effects of unresolved turbulence in numerical simulations, focusing on Large Eddy Simulations, and applications to BNS mergers. I will then discuss https://arxiv.org/abs/1912.11073 which proposes the use of machine learning techniques to construct such a subgrid model.
