DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Felix Heinze\n\nTwo black-hole merger events with co
mpatible first-merger remnant and second-merger component masses and overl
apping spatial localizations may originate from sequential mergers in a pr
e-existing hierarchical black-hole triple. In this scenario\, the inner bi
nary merges first\, leaving a remnant that remains bound to the tertiary a
nd subsequently undergoes a second merger. We discuss potential hierarchic
al-merger pairs proposed in the literature and present a method to constra
in the progenitor triple’s outer orbit by modeling the gravitational-wav
e-driven evolution of the remnant-tertiary binary using Peters’ equation
 s.  Given an assumed upper bound on the recoil velocity of the first merg
er\, the method requires only the black-hole masses\, the time delay betwe
en the mergers\, and the eccentricity at a reference frequency — quantit
ies that can be inferred from the merger events themselves.\nIf time permi
ts\, we can also shortly discuss recently developed physics-informed machi
ne-learning methods for solving the Hamilton constraint equation in the la
st part of the seminar. \n\nhttps://indico.tpi.uni-jena.de/event/542/
