DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Arthur Offermans\n\nModelling neutrinos in astrophys
ical systems requires to solve the 7D relativistic Boltzmann equation. Bec
ause of its high dimensionality\, solving this equation is intrinsically e
xtremely computationally expensive. To mitigate this problem\, more afford
able approximations to the Boltzmann equation are often used instead. Howe
ver\, it is difficult to gauge the effect of such approximations on the ev
olution of the system\, unless we have access to the true solution. Theref
ore\, we implemented a relativistic multi-dimensional Boltzmann solver in
the GRMHD code Gmunu to compute these full solutions. In this talk\, I wil
l present our solver and discuss the main challenges of solving this 7D eq
uation\, both in terms of computational cost and accuracy. Then\, I will d
iscuss the performance of the solver on various test cases. Finally\, I wi
ll present some preliminary results on its application to neutrino flavor
 instability.\n \n\nhttps://indico.tpi.uni-jena.de/event/499/
