Abrikosov-Nielsen-Olesen (ANO) string is known as a nontrivial configuration of field equations of motion in the abelian scalar theory. In this talk, we discuss properties of ANO strings with the polynomial potential and the Coleman-Weinberg (CW) potential and highlight their differences of the string dynamics. Besides, as a similar object in the standard model, we introduce basic features of electroweak strings and argue its stability in terms of fermion zeromodes.
