abstract: Motivated by conjectures relating black hole physics to quantum computational complexity within the AdS/CFT correspondence, I will discuss the holographic mapping of a class of quantum circuits and distance measures therein. I will introduce quantum circuits adapted to the conformal field theory setting built out of conformal transformations in 2d CFTs and derive the asymptotically AdS spacetimes dual to these circuits. Within this framework, distance measures between quantum states such as the Fubini-Study metric acquire a simple geometric realization in the AdS space. Moreover, a geometric dual to an associated notion of computational complexity is found. This newly found duality allows for the first time to check previously conjectured features of computational complexity in AdS/CFT in a specific example derived from first principles.
