Abstract: The "complexity" of a quantum state is often meant to be a measure of how hard it is to compute that state in a quantum computer, e.g. by acting with unitary gates on a reference state. In this talk, I am going to discuss various notions of how "complexity" might be defined, from group theoretic approaches via Nielsen's idea to other field theory proposals.
