Description
This talk is about the study of quasi-local boundary in the context of quantum gravity. More specifically, I will focus on the three-dimensional case, where the theory is much simpler and yet retains some interesting components. Starting from the Ponzano-Regge model, a discrete path integral formulation of three-dimensional gravity, I will show how the partition function of the theory is constructed and depends on the choice of boundary data when considering a local region of space-time. I will then discuss some particular choices of data, leading to integrable models and some generalization of the BMS character of the BMS symmetry group.
