Description
A key result of (3+1)D loop quantum gravity is the quantization of areas. Taking the quantization of areas as input I will derive effective lattice models for 4D quantum gravity. These models clarify a further main ingredients for spin foam dynamics, namely the inclusion of torsion degrees of freedom.
The effective models are  much more computationally accessible than the traditional spin foam models and offer more direct tests for the dynamics. They are therefore excellent candidates for coarse graining. The fate of the torsion of degrees of freedom under coarse graining constitutes an important test for spin foams.
